چکیده

The influence of correlations of uniform Fermi systems (nuclear matter, electron gas and liquid 3 He) on Shannon's information entropy, S, is studied. S is the sum of the information entropies in position and momentum spaces. It is found that, for three different Fermi systems with different particle interactions, the correlated part of S (S cor) depends on the correlation parameter of the systems or on the discontinuity gap of the momentum distribution through two parameter expressions. The values of the parameters characterize the strength of the correlations. A two parameter expression also holds between S cor and the mean kinetic energy (K) of the Fermi system. The study of thermal effects on the uncorrelated electron gas leads to a relation between the thermal part of S (S thermal) and the fundamental quantities of temperature, thermodynamical entropy and the mean kinetic energy. It is found that, in the case of low temperature limit, the expression connecting S thermal with K is the same to the one which connects S cor with K. There are only some small differences on the values of the parameters. Thus, regardless of the reason (correlations or thermal) that changes K, S takes almost the same value.

Comparison of entropy generation minimization principle and entransy theory in optimal design of thermal systems

In this study, the relationship among the concepts of entropy generation rate, entransy theory, and generalized thermal resistance to the optimal design of thermal systems is discussed. The equations of entropy and entransy rates are compared and their implications for optimization of conductive heat transfer are analyzed. The theoretical analyses show that based on entropy generation minimizat...

Statistical measure of complexity and correlated behavior of Fermi systems.

We apply the statistical measure of complexity, introduced by López-Ruiz, Mancini, and Calbet (LMC), to uniform Fermi systems. We investigate the connection between information and complexity measures with the strongly correlated behavior of various Fermi systems as nuclear matter, electron gas, and liquid helium. We examine the possibility that LMC complexity can serve as an index quantifying ...

Effects of the rectangular groove dimensions on the thermal features of the turbulent Al2O3-water nanofluid flow in the grooved tubes

The forced convection heat transfer of turbulent Al2O3-water nanofluid flow inside the grooved tubeswith the different aspect ratio of the rectangular grooves is numerically investigated. The governingequations have been solved using finite volume method (FVM) coupled with SIMPLE algorithm. It isassumed the heat flux is constant on the grooved walls. The Single-phase approach is applied for th...

Effects of Rib Shapes on Heat Transfer Characteristics of Turbulent Flow of Al2O3-Water Nanofluid inside Ribbed Tubes

In this paper, convection heat transfer of Al2O3-water nanofluid turbulent flow through internally ribbed tubes with different rib shapes (rectangular, trapezoidal and semi-circular) is numerically investigated. For each rib shape, the optimum geometric ratio and volume fraction were calculated using entropy generation minimization technique. The governing equations in...
